This is a nice little freeware program for viewing and editing photos and graphics. I use it almost daily to crop and resize photos that I've downloaded from our digital camera.

Hmmmmm, I never knew you could use it to crop an image/picture, but the other features are awesome, for such a tiny program (as in the size of the exe file).
I've used that program for years on a Windows system, but now I'm just using Linux, and miss that program very much having not found one similar (as in ease of use and features) for a Linux system.

I have Irfanview on my Ubuntu box. I run it in Wine. It seems to run OK, but I haven't tested all the features yet. This is also my first attempt to use Wine, so I'm not familiar with it's features either.
Hmmmm, I've had the believing that running Wine is cheating. I mean, isn't the whole Linux thing to get away from using Windows stuff???

I see Linux as a way to get away from Bill Gates and Widows but I still think it's ok to run non-Bill Gates programs in Wine. I also have a very nice HP Photo Printing program I'd like to run under Wine but since Linux only allows my printers to print at 600x600dpi I'm forced to use Windows for all my photo printing. We have 3 grandkids under six years old and we do A LOT of photo printing.

All I use Irfanview for is to crop or resize my pics...a very handy prog
In addition to crop and resize I use Irfanview to remove red eye, and I've also found that I can rotate pictures left or right one degree at a time to get near perfect horizontal or vertical alignment.
I've been trying

Please register to forum by clicking here to see links., the thing I like very much apart from the fact it does offer a lot more than Irfanview has to offer, is that nowadays this "program" isn't "installed" to your computer like it used to be, yet it's a very powerful image program!!

I was reading good things about an extension for Irfanview that lets you perform some operations from Windows Explorer.
