I love nicknames. There are some belters about.
The idea of this thread is to post, one at a time, nicknames you have come accross and the reasons behind them (if needed).

Let's see if it will run for a bit, so here's my first one:

The famous rugby league player Martin Offiah, affectionately known as "chariots".
Another rugby player, John Eales(Australia). Nicknamed "Nobody". He was a complete player hence the fact that "Nobody is perfect!"
Well, me - harriebird. So called because as a youngster I "ate like a bird." (A phenomenon not currently in effect).

Most of mine will be about rugby players. Here's another one. Gareth Jenkins (ex Wales coach) AKA Alvin Stardust.

I dunno why, but in my family, Ronnie Wood and Keith Richard have always been referred to as "The Glimmer Twins".
