I've just recently started watching The Catherine Tate Show on BBC America, she does have some great/funny sketches along with some poor ones to! I'v also noticed she's in a lot of Doctor Who episodes, yet I'd never heard of her before!
I'm not a fan of either her comedy or "straight" acting. Just something about her, mostly her voice and attitute she uses in most of her stuff.
She seems to come across ok in interviews though.
Agree with you Degsy. Nice person just don,t find her funny.
A couple of other shows they have over here is Little Britain and My Family.....I find it very hard to laugh at either of them!!
Although i'm a fan of the new age of alternative comedy from the 90s with Vic & Bob and Matt Lucas I don't get Little Britain. I've never actually seen a full episode but i've seen plenty of clips and maybe liked one or two of them.
I've never watched My Family either but it is supposed to be made in the American fashion of having a team of script writers and having a joke/comedy moment every minute or two to keep things flowing.
Catherine Tate's "Lauren the schoolgirl" is very true to life, I live about 4 miles from the 4th biggest council estate in Europe and have seen hundreds of "Laurens" when I've been brave enough to venture into that area. Don't go much on the foul-mouthed gran though.
I do like the one you mention Harley, and agree with the gran too, I also dislike the ones with her calling her son "gay"!
